Types of photos

The photos which we look at seem so simple and indistinguishable. All the photos look very similar to each other and we hardly get to know the difference between them. It is very strange and shocking to know that there are around 100 types of photos which although look very similar to each other, but each one of them have their own uniqueness. Clicking photos have been their since a very long time. The great old artists have also showed a great interest in the photos.

Some of the well known types of photos include:
Calotype: At times, it is also known as the Talbotype. It is made from the paper negative in the form of a paper print. This form of photos are more commonly famous in England since the time of 1840’s and was never known or liked in the United States. This kind of photos lacks the sharp detail and the soft focus because of the usage of the paper negative.

Ambrotype: It is basically glass negative along with the black background which makes the photo or the image look positive. This form of photo was invented in the year of 1854. But in the years of 1860, this type of photo lost it’s popularity and almost it’s existence.

Cabinet Card: This type of photography was introduced in the year of 1866. It became very popular in the United States of America. Cabinet Card photos are very easily differentiated from the other type of photos as it has a very typical size and is available is a very different form. It is made in the size of 4.25 x 6.5 inches.
Carte De Visite: More popularly known as the CDV’s was introduced in the year of 1850 and became very popular in the countries; Europe and America. It is very easily differentiated from the other card as it has a very different form and size. The size of this type of photos is made in 2.5 x 4 inches or even slightly less than this. In the recent years, the Carte De Visite has lost its popularity and is seen in a very few portraits only.
Daguerreotype: A lot of people believe that this form of photography as one of the most beautiful photos in the world. It was introduced to the world in the year of 1839, and was one of the mostly used forms of the photography. This form of photos use a sliver plated metal sheet, which is very firmly polished and can be very easily recognized from the other type of photos. In this photo, the place should be handled in such a way in contrasting with the light so that the image in the sheet becomes visible. The image made in the plate is normally very sharp.
The above mentioned types of photos are just a few of them. Many more types of photos are present which have their own uniqueness and specialty. Knowing all of them is either impossible or very difficult.
